This beast’s deep seated preoccupation is hunting and consuming Rock Rats, conveniently digging through vast amounts of ore in the process. The Tiberian Mining Consortium uses Tiberian Mining cows as a symbiotic labor class in the production of Tulaic Ore; which it sells exclusively to the Kodan imperium at absurdly low prices.

It should be noted that the Kodans are galactically renown genetic engineers. Their particular genius made evident in such profitable and utilitarian constructs as the Tiberian Rock Rat, the Tiberian Mining Cow, and the ever popular Tiberian Mining Consortium Executive.

Earth would have been conquered eons ago if it weren’t discovered that humans constantly contribute to dirt’s on-going accumulation. Entities from around the galaxy do not understand why we spend so much time washing dirt off everything that we own, and then act stupefied as we die horrifically from cell spurned malignancies. Because of this, pigs are widely considered to be the only sane warm-blooded creatures on the planet.

This gift has made them very rich and very busy as galactic assassins.

The training for this odd but profitable global commodity begins very early in the life of Primoptican children. One of the first things that a child learns is to salute. The Primoptican salute is altogether forgettable in its galactic uniformity save for the thumb which is extended in a crisp 90° angle from the palm. A properly executed Primoptican salute will predictably drive an eyeball from its socket, effectively rendering this unique visual gift useless.

Since it is held as a sacred and eternal truth on Optical Prime that there is no reason to solve a simple problem when you can just as easily engineer a complicated way around it; A training regime was inaugurated that kept military tradition and discipline intact while restoring the damaged depth perception. Is for this singular reason that when and if you should ever meet one Primoptical assassin you will undoubtedly meet their partner. For Primoptical assassins always travel in mated pairs.

She danced in the comforting embrace of willow moss, between golden shafts of sunlight and bough shadow; unaware of my presence.

When she saw me, she stopped, her eyes spoke simply and direct with the innocence of youth and the aged experience of tree folk who measure the time between raindrops in eons.

“Yes, they are attached … ” Her eyes mouthed the words over the gulf that lay between us. “Do you have a problem with that?”

I smiled and waved in the inept manner of humans when confronted with the incredibly obvious. She stared a moment longer, shrugged her shoulders and then flew back into the shadow of dreams.
